Server Status Updates

Scheduled Maintenance (GoPHP5) - November 20, 2007 4:26 pm
As you may know many systems within our hosted/reseller (shared) environment are running PHP4 and PHP5 simultaneously. (PHP4 as a DSO and PHP5 as a CGI).

Keeping up to date with standards and the developer community, any new and recent deployments within our shared environment have consisted of PHP5 only as a DSO.

The purpose of this maintenance window is to generate consistency among builds running PHP5 only as a DSO, while PHP4 will no longer be supported as any new feature releases will have a minimum version requirement of at least 5.2.0.

Currently, two major versions of PHP are being actively developed: 5.x and 4.4.x. On July 13, 2007, the PHP group announced that active development on PHP4 will cease by December 31, 2007, however, critical security updates will be provided until August 8, 2008. PHP 6 is currently under development, and is slated to release in conjunction with the decommission of PHP 4. [source]

Maintenance Date: 01/15/2008

Servers included in this maintenance window: Connecticut, Lexington, South Carolina, Virginia, Essex, New York, Massachusetts, Maryland, Delaware, Valley Forge, North Carolina, Yorktown, and Thames.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the upgrade from PHP4 to PHP5, please contact our support department.

Thames unresponsive - Thu, 15 May 2008 17:31:38

Thames has become unresponsive to all requests and the server has been rebooted. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

We will provide a follow up once the server is back online.

Update: Server is back online. All services are operational and functional.

Update: After investigation we have identified an IP address hitting port 110 (cPanel POP3) causing a brute force and a Denial of Service attack resulting in the server outage earlier today. The offending IP address has been blocked in the firewall.

Thank You,

Southcarolina ServerAlias - Fri, 09 May 2008 13:24:20

It has come to our attention that a few random domains in Southcarolina are not accessible using the ‘www’ prefix of the domain. This is due to the ServerAlias Apache directive which has an incorrect configuration.

We are currently investigating the cause of the issue and have a ticket open with cPanel for the same.

A cPanel technician is currently working on the issue and it will be resolved shortly.

We will have an update soon. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Update: The issue has been resolved by rebuilding Apache with the correct configuration.

Thank You,

Fantastico (register_globals) - Sat, 03 May 2008 02:51:19

Due to a recent cPanel (nightly) update, register_globals for the back-end copy of PHP has been disabled and in turn affecting the functionality of Fantastico.

“This application is currently not available. Please contact your host.”

Fantastico is quickly working towards a timely resolution revising its code which will rectify the issue. As a mere ETA we should see the update forced down later this evening.

For an immediate (timely) resolution we ask that you submit a support request in the event you are confronted with this error.

Thank you,
